MAKE UP STORE M Magazine: Inspiring Makeup Visuals!
If you’re ever in the Make Up Store, I suggest you not only look at the products but also consider snagging a copy of their in-store magazine “M”.
The “magazines” - if you can call them that - are expensive (S$15) but they’re published only once a year and are all thick, high-quality, and FILLED with the most incredible makeup and photography. In fact, they’re all collectibles and perfect coffee table books if you’re interested in makeup or becoming a makeup artist.
Make Up Store is very similar to Illamasqua in its aesthetics and approach. The brand is bold and experimental, and the visuals and photography far outstrip anything I’ve seen from MAC in a long time.
Sometimes makeup is not about copying a look exactly, but looking at an image that surprises and awes you, and then taking it to 50% or 60% intensity for everyday life. So go bold when you’re looking for ideas. Maybe you’ll only feel brave enough to try the orange liner out of that entire rainbow look, but if it’s made you do something different and opened your mind a little, then it’s all good!
[Photos above are snapped off actual hard copies of magazines I own. I took them, but don’t own rights to the printed images and looks that I took photos of.]
Oooh… Good inspiration. Love the rainbow one.
